Say “Thank You”, at every opportunity.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;How many of us write up the order, turn it in and go to the next prospect or task at hand?&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;I mean, we’re doing our clients a favor, aren’t we?&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;Our product and service is better than the competition.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;We delivered it on time, without hassle, under budget and we threw in some added value to the whole order on the back end. They should be thanking me, right?&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;Think again.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;If you don’t go out of your way every time you come in contact with a client or prospect to thank them for their time, the order, the opportunity to be in the running, the coffee while you are in their waiting room, etc. etc., then you are missing an opportunity to remind them that you are there to serve and become an integral part of their team as a vendor or as a partner.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;2. Say “Thank You”, at every contact with a useful gift.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;Pen, ruler, travel mug, paper cube, calendar or any one of thousands of other branded items.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;It doesn’t have to be expensive but it does need to be something of value for that particular industry or person.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;Make sure YOUR company brand stays in front of the customer and your prospects!&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;3. Say “Thank You”, after the sale.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;This is the most under utilized common courtesy in American business.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;In other countries it’s done on every sale by giving a gift back to the customer as a thank you for their business.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;Not in America.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;Even if it’s just a thank you card, do it!&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;But if you want to really make an impact, send them something that will cause them to reflect on you and how great it was to do business with your company.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;4. Say “Thank You”, at the end of the year or during the holidays.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;Your top clients need to be remembered at the end of every year. &lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/span&gt;Take this opportunity to set yourself apart by sending a branded gift that tastes great or a logo’d gift that will be used time and time again throughout the coming year.&lt;span&gt;&amp;nbsp; &lt;/span&gt;Don’t miss this opportunity to be unique and be remembered.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div class="MsoNormal"&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;span style="font-family: &amp;quot;Times New Roman&amp;quot;; font-size: 12pt;"&gt;5. No doubt you already have a logo. Although one of the most important items for your business, you will need more than just a logo to build your visual image.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;ul&gt;&lt;li&gt;Do you have a tag line? The funny thing is, as I thought about turkeys and branding, a series of brand names kept popping in my head.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Just for kicks, I did an internet search and found a series of interesting discussions on the kind (brand) of turkey that is the "best" one to buy. One of the answers said, "I always buy (brandname) turkey. &lt;em&gt;I just trust the brand&lt;/em&gt;." There was no other reason mentioned for this customer's loyalty other than the fact that this brand evokes a feeling of trust. The customer didn't mention taste, safety, price or any of the other elements that can go into building a brand. The implication is that the customer trusted the brand enough to believe that this particular turkey would be juicy, taste good, and be a safe product. Why this brand over any of the other brands? Intrigued, I continued to search.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Over and over again, this particular brand of turkey is showing up on blogs and answers to questions. Is the turkey really that much better? Or has this particular company just done an excellent job at branding through a great marketing plan? I suspect it's a little of both.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Do your customers just "trust" your brand? Does that trust translate into brand loyalty? For some, it’s more than just a new manager, it’s a whole new management team. This recently happened to a new client of ours. How they handled the transition is an interesting case study.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This particular client has about 500 employees located in various offices around the United States. They have been in business for a number of years and had developed a very “old-school” management philosophy. When the owners decided to sell the business, new management came in with new ideas, new philosophies and a new energy.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;They had many challenges. How would they allay the natural fears that come with any change in management style? How would they create a close-knit team feeling and loyalty among their employees and boost morale at the same time? How would they make sure that the new management philosophy became part of the attitude and customer service efforts of their employees?&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;First, the management team sat down and devised a new three-part mission statement that more accurately reflected their forward-thinking positive business philosophy. This three-part mission statement translated easily into 3 short memorable messages.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Next, they selected several promotional products to use as gifts for their employees. Each promotional product is imprinted with one of the new branding messages. These products were specifically selected for their usability and thus, visibility on each employee’s desk.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Next, to foster the feeling of belonging to one team (rather than several disjointed groups) they designed &lt;a href="http://www.logodgear.com/:quicksearch.htm?quicksearchbox=tshirts"&gt;imprinted t-shirts &lt;/a&gt;and other logod apparel for their employees.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And last, the management team created an incentive program. This past week her school gave her a promotional padfolio and pen in recognition of a scholastic achievement. It was a beautiful black leather with her university’s name and logo emblazoned across the front and on the matching pen. Here in Charlotte, we got enough snow to shut the city down for a few days. City and county crews worked through the night to keep the roads passable once the ice started to melt.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Their ability to be prepared for unexpected emergencies was a tremendous factor in the overall lack of serious injuries and fatalities after the weather hit.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Unfortunately, we can't always prepare for the unexpected. The people of Haiti had no way of knowing or preparing for the tremendous tragedy that struck in January - and certainly very little way to prepare for the aftermath. Although our thoughts and prayers are with them, Logo'd Gear is proud to be able to assist in a material and practical way as well. Easy enough, Bo! I’ll just pester my client 8 times until she buys from me!” &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;Not so fast. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;Building a relationship with your customers takes time, effort, and a good marketing plan. Treating customers as if they are nothing more than a number to achieve won’t lead to an ongoing relationship with repeated orders and increased sales volume.  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;Imagine two companies who want to increase their sales volume. Company A invests heavily in a tradeshow. Not having a solid marketing plan, Company A gives out lots and lots of paper handouts to everyone who walks by their booth. The handouts are informative and well-designed – and if a potential client shows interest, they might even get a full-color brochure. Company A brings home alot of business cards.  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;Company B invests heavily in the same tradeshow, but they have a well-thought out marketing plan. At the tradeshow, they hand out memorable promotional products with their company logo and tagline (maybe a light up stressball or pen). The giveaways are clever or useful enough that more people actually visit their booth to get more information (and a giveaway!) Company B also brings home a ton of business cards. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;em&gt;Company A divies up the business cards among its salespeople who start to cold call their prospects. They get a lot of voicemail and leave a lot of messages. Most of their prospects don’t remember who Company A is or what they sell.&lt;/em&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;Company B also starts the follow up process, but they begin their calls by referring to the memorable promotional product. The prospect makes the connection between the salesperson, the tradeshow and the product sitting on her desk.  Company B actively markets to the warm prospects that have resulted from the initial two contacts. They follow up with another promotional product, perhaps a digital desk clock, a travel coffee mug, or other promotional item that will be used – and seen – every day. Company B has exponentially increased the number of times their prospects associate Company B’s logo and tagline with the product they want to order. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;Hard to believe? Let’s play a quick word association name. Who do you think of when you want to ship something that absolutely positively has to be there overnight? I’m betting it’s FedEx! Why? Because you see the FedEx logo and brand name everywhere. It’s constant reinforcement, and b&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;rand reinforcement is vital to the sales process.  &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;em&gt;(In the meantime, Company A fires up their email and starts sending out emails in an attempt to reach their prospects, because they have no warm leads and no prospect relationship.  No one can remember who they are.)&lt;/em&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;By providing your clients with fun, interesting, and useful promotional products, you are creating an environment where your company name is familiar and it becomes easier to build rapport when your salesperson calls. It becomes easier for your prospect to become your client and to give you her business because you have given to her first.
